NEW GENERATION PROPULSION PLANT DEVELOPMENT

The first propeller for the power of 360 h.p. with new polymer composite blades was created by “AEROSILA”.
On the threshold of the world fuel energy crisis at the end of 1970s the enterprise began developing high-performance low-noise propfan propulsion plants.
The first sample of such type items was 8-blade propfan with metal blades SV-24. The propfan was tested on the aircraft An-24 and showed the perspective of further propfan works on.

In close cooperation with R&D Institute of Aircraft Industry AEROSILA began extensively developing principally new multi-blade feathering – reversible propfans and propellers with composite blades for new generation aircraft.
The large scope of cooperation works performed according to the specific industry package program allowed creating modern design methods, developing and improving test and production base.
Besides the most problematic task of light and reliable blade development was successfully solved.
After solving the technological and material science tasks for composite blades the concept of advanced serial production was determined with focusing on creating modern equipment, accessories and devices for principally new production of polymer composite.

1994

The practice result of the works performed under 85 different programs was creating basic coaxial composite blade propfan SV-36 with the power of 10000 h.p., and then more powerful (for 14000 h.p.) propfan SV-27 for An-70 aircraft.
There are no analogues of propfan SV-27 in the world.

At propfan engine aircraft cruising flight speed close to the speeds of the aircraft with bypass turbofan engine it provides high efficiency (0,9 at Мп =0,7), high takeoff and reverse characteristics and extreme short aircraft takeoff and run.
By means of applying the propfan engine instead of the similar technical level bypass turbofan engine the fuel economy is 30%.

1997

The Type certificate was received for the first sample of new generation multi-blade composite propeller which was SV-34 propeller (with power of 2500 h.p.) developed by AEROSILA for IL-114 aircraft.
The following new composite blade propellers were developed by the enterprise after SV-36 propeller:
AV-140 propeller with the power of 3000 h.p. for An-140 aircraft and AV-36 propeller with the power of 1500 h.p. for An-38 aircraft.
New generation propfans and propellers feature high aerodynamic efficiency and differ from previous propellers by less dimensions and weight, increased number of light composite blades, reduced noise level and increased life time.

The usage of the electronic loop in new propeller’s automatic control system allowed increasing the number of control functions and applying propeller diagnostics and phase-synchronization.

1990s-2000s

Developing the following auxiliary power units:
ТА-14, ТА18-100, ТА18-200.
The APU ТА-14 and its modifications are designed for operating on Yak-130, IL-114, An-140 aircraft and on Mi-8, Mi-17, Ка-62 helicopters.
The decision for APU ТА18-100 using on-board new airplane Ту-334 was concluded.
The APU ТА18-200 with equivalent power of 365 kW was certified in 2005.
New APU designed for replacing ТА12-60 engines on Tu-204, Tu-214, An-70 aircraft cardinally differ from previous engine by modern full-authority digital control system.
The appearance of the aircraft and helicopters with new APU ТА14, ТА18-100 и ТА18-200 on the aviation market makes it possible to increase the competitive ability of national aircraft and helicopters.

2000s – present time

Since 2000s and onward the following APUs have been developed: ТА18-200-124 for Аn124-100 aircraft (certified in 29.12.12), ТА18-200-70 for Аn-70 (successfully passed ГСИ in 2012 , adopted by Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation), ТА18-200МС for МС-21 (Одобрение Главного изменения СТ321-ВД/ОГИ-05 IAC AR)
The APU ТА18-200Э with increased electrical power bleed was developed.
The prototype of generation center ТА18-200Э for 240 kVA was designed, and the works for creating the generation center for 480 kVA are performed for special-purpose aircraft.
Current developments: УБЭ-1700 – for advanced wide body long range aircraft, ТА18-200-70Б, ТА18-100С, ГТД-500.
Concerning propeller subject the enterprise is involved in the programs for creating and supporting the serial production of IL-112 and IL-114 aircraft, and is busy with designing effective propellers for unmanned aircraft family.

THE ENTERPRISE HAS DEVELOPED:

  • 115 propellers (with power of 20-30000 h.p.) for 85 aircraft types
  • more than 15 APU models and modifications (with equivalent power of 100÷475 h.p.) for 85 aircraft types
  • 10 ball-screw actuators (with operating loads of 10-130 tones) for 7 aircraft types
